Online therapy in California for anxiety, grief, and men's mental health
Some people worry that online therapy is a compromise, something less effective than sitting in the same room as your therapist. The research says otherwise. Telehealth consistently produces outcomes on par with in person therapy, with the added benefit that you can do the work from wherever you are in California. Whether you're dealing with anxiety that's been running the show, grief that doesn't fit what others expect, or a relationship with alcohol or other substances that's starting to worry you, you don't need a waiting room to do real work. Just a private space and a reliable internet connection.

The right therapist matters more than the closest one
Finding a therapist who specializes in what you're dealing with is more important than finding one down the street. I work with clients across California because if my approach resonates with you, I don't want distance to be the reason we don't work together. Whether you're in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Sacramento, or anywhere in between, online therapy makes it possible to work with someone who is the right fit rather than just the most convenient option.
Online therapy for anxiety, grief, and men's mental health
For people dealing with anxiety, being able to do therapy from a familiar, comfortable space often makes it easier to show up honestly. For grief, processing loss from the privacy of your own home can feel safer than sitting in a waiting room. For men who are already hesitant about therapy, the lower barrier of a video call rather than an in-person appointment often makes it easier to take that first step.
How online therapy works with me
Sessions are held via SimplePractice, a secure HIPAA compliant video platform. I meet with you alone in my office, never record sessions, and do not use AI note taking tools. On your end, all you need is a private space and a reliable internet connection. You must be physically located in California during our sessions as this is a legal requirement for licensed therapy. If you're new to telehealth and want practical tips on setting up your space, I've written a full guide here.
Why clients across California choose to work with me
I've been working with people navigating anxiety, complicated grief, and men's emotional avoidance since 2018, using an approach grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Strategic Therapy, and Humanistic methods. My style is straightforward and direct. No therapy speak, no judgment, just honest work on the things that are actually getting in the way. I work with people who are tired of shutting down, carrying things they've never said out loud, grieving in ways that don't fit what others expect, or relying on alcohol or other substances more than they'd like to admit. If that sounds familiar, I don't want geography to be the reason you don't get the right support.
Who online therapy with me is right for
I work with adults and teens across California dealing with anxiety, complicated grief, men's emotional avoidance, or substance use. That includes men who've been told they're "distant" and are tired of shutting down during conflict, people grieving losses that don't fit the usual script, including grief involving addiction or suicide, and anyone using alcohol or other substances to manage stress who wants a harm reduction approach rather than an all or nothing one. I blend ACT, Strategic Therapy, and Humanistic methods, so we're not just talking about what's wrong. We're actively building skills that hold up in daily life. I offer online therapy statewide, with the exception of some Medicare plans which may require an in person initial session. If you're unsure whether telehealth is right for your situation, a free 15 minute consultation is the easiest way to find out.
